Get Involved with FIRST® LEGO® League Explore

In addition to being a team member, there are many ways to get involved with FIRST® LEGO® League Explore. Whether you have played with LEGO® bricks your whole life or even if you have never heard of them, you can help with FIRST LEGO League Explore!

Coaches

Coaches are critical element to a team. They guide the team through the season, facilitating discussion and problem solving along the way. Coaches do not need to have a technical background, just a willingness to learn along with the team. Coaches are the main point of contact for both FIRST and FIRST Illinois Robotics and are responsible for disseminating information to the team.

A coaches season can be guided using the Engineering Notebooks and Team Meetings Guides provided with the team's national registration. The Team Meeting Guide provides session-by-session lessons.

Mentor

Mentorship is another way for older students and adults to help teams throughout the season. Although it is not required for a team to have a Mentor, Mentors can provide guidance in an area of expertise that greatly benefits the team, like the challenge theme, programming or presenting. Mentors do not necessarily have to be present at every meeting; they can be used as a resource. Older siblings, relatives and experts can make great mentors for FIRST LEGO League Explore teams.

Volunteer

Events for FIRST LEGO League Explore teams need volunteers to make the event run smoothly. Duties for volunteers at these events range from Reviewers to welcoming guests and participants. You could also volunteer directly with a team and help out at meetings along the way.

FIRST LEGO League Explore presents the perfect opportunity to get the whole family involved too. Parents, grandparents, siblings, and others can all take an active role in this exciting program.
