Q: Is there a charge for admission? No - the event is free and open to the public.
Q: Is there Wi-Fi available? No - there is no public or guest Wi-Fi. Please do not activate hotspots as they will interfere with the competition and may delay the event.
Q: Where is the lost & found? You can turn in "found" items to any volunteer - we prefer you take items directly to Pit Admin or the Volunteer Coordinator near the main entrance if possible. Lost items can be claimed from the Volunteer Coordinator/Information Desk near the main entrance.
Q: Is there a Quiet Room? A quiet room will be available on Friday and Saturday, pending volunteer availability. Please see the information table for more information.
Q: Where can I work or make a private phone call? We do not have a room for private calls or Zoom meetings. There is a Starbucks located at 1808 South Arlington Heights Road.
Q: Will my team be able to bring their own food into the venue? Yes! Teams are welcome to bring their own food and beverages into Forest View Educational Center. There is limited space available for food storage, so teams are advised to keep any food they bring in their team vehicles until it is ready to be consumed.
Q: Where can food be consumed throughout the venue? Food can be consumed in the field house, cafeteria, and commons. It is not allowed to consume food in the pits. A limited number of tables will be available in the cafeteria for teams on a first come first serve basis. Due to limited space we are unable to provide teams with dedicated food and beverages storage space. The cafeteria space will be unmonitored, so please plan accordingly and practice Gracious Professionalism when using the space.
Q: Where can I pick up team lunches? The Brew Cafe will be the pickup location.
Q: Where can my team store personal belongings like coats, bags, and coolers? Space for the storage of personal belongings will be very limited in Forest View Educational Center. Other than your team’s pit, there is not space inside the venue for teams to keep their personal belongings. Due to the ease of access to the building’s parking lots, it is advised that teams keep personal belongings in their vehicles and buses.
In the past teams have been able to store their personal belongings in the stands. While there will be enough seating in the bleachers for those in attendance to watch matches, there is not enough space in the stands for teams to store coats, bags, and coolers. Storing these items in the stands will not be allowed to ensure all those who wish to watch robot matches will have enough seating to do so.
Q: Will there be security screening to enter the venue like there was at the previous Midwest Regional venue? We’re pleased to share that teams will not need to pass through metal detectors to enter the venue. This should make entering the venue every morning and running to team vehicles to grab supplies far easier
Q: Can I take pictures? Yes - photography and videos are strongly encouraged!
Q: Can we use 3D printers? 3D printers can be operated only when the pits are open (no overnight runs).
Q: Do you have event shirts or other merchandise for sale? No, we do not have souvenirs for sale this year.
Q: What should I wear? If you plan to visit the pits, please wear closed-toe shoes and bring your own properly-rated safety glasses. We do not have safety glasses to share.
Q: What if our team does not want a pit table? Please talk to pit admin to determine where to move your unused pit tables.
Q: Is there a location for religious practice (e.g. meditation, prayer)? Yes, please check with the Volunteer Coordinators at the Information table.
